We are super excited to have one of our inspiring Ako advisors Sarah Aiono join us on the 25th of January for our first Ako Talk of 2018. Sarah is a teacher, doctoral student, homeschooling Mum and director of Longworth Education, an organization committed to the promotion of developmentally appropriate teaching practices in New Zealand schools.
She will discuss her experience as a parent of children who attended Longworth Forest, an alternative schooling model supporting children to learn through play within a forest setting all day everyday. In October 2017, Longworth Forest was recognized as a global education innovator by Finland's HundrED. Sarah will discuss her journey setting up New Zealand’s leading teacher training in play based learning, the development she sees in learning through play in NZ schools, the value learning through play has for kiwi kids, and how this has influenced her in her doctoral studies she is currently undertaking with Massey University.
Please join us on Thursday the 25th of January 2018 from 7pm-8.30pm at Western Springs Community Hall in Auckland. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
